Planner Girls Collective – Why I love my planner and my planner story

Hello my planner friends! This week our brief in the Planner Girl series we have been asked to write about why we love our planners and our planner why.  This is going to be a long one, so I suggest that you grab yourself a cup of tea!

I have been a planner girl for about a year and a half I would say. I did have a fun fax when I was a child and I have had jobs in the past that required me to use a diary, but I didn’t use it outside of work, or decorate it in any way. The reason I got a planner a year and a half ago was after watching a video from Hannah Maggs. She was showing a planner that she had gotten from Kate Spade. It was a spiral one and for some reason I just decided that I needed to have one. I started browsing online trying to find something I liked and ended up on the Kikki K website…………and that point there was when I fell down the rabbit hole. The first purchase I made was a Teal Time Planner, which I don’t have any more. I don’t think I would be able to list all of the planners I have tried over the past 18 months now. I have tried pretty much every brand in pretty much every size. Fast forward to today and I don’t use a ringed planner anymore. I now use Travelers Notebook in a6 size as my everyday carry. I use an Leuchtturm 1917 Bullet Journal as my main planner and I have a websters pages in mint floral as my creative journal and I have an a5 geekydori as my inspiration planner. I also have a Hobonichi Weeks as a social Media Planner.

The reason I love planning has many layers if I am perfectly honest. The first thing I love is how it keeps me on the right track. I have two children and life can get a bit crazy. Having a planner means that I can keep on the right track, with all the appointments and things to track for the whole family. The second thing I love is how it’s sparked my creativity again. Once I had started with planning I started to use a creative journal again. This has been really amazing for my mental health and I am loving that I have a creative outlet again. The third thing I love is the community. I have met some of the most amazing ladies as a result of the community, who are amazing. I have met some girls through the planner community who I consider to be friends for life.

I would love to hear why you love your planner.

Love

Louise

  1. Love your post. I think I might have to start bullet journalling again as my hybrid system isn’t working anymore.
Also, love the idea of an inspiration journal. I’d love to see more x
