Hello everyone, hope you had a wonderful Christmas and New Year and that you are ready for a fantastic 2017.
The first challenge that has been set to us as part of the newly renamed series is to look back at our 2016 Planner setup……..this one might take a while! I got my first planner on 1st January 2016 and its taken a long, long, long time to find what works for me, I can tell you. I have tried pretty much every make of planners, (Kikki K, Filofax, Carpe Diem, Forever New, Websters Pages, Erin Condren, Plum Paper Planner, Happy Planner and I have moved backwards and forwards between sizes. It was an exhausting and expensive experience and left me feeling more deflated each time. I kept hearing this talk of Planner Peace and feeling a failure for not being able to achieve it.
It wasn’t until the last few months of the year that I realised ring bound planners weren’t going to work for me at all. I think when you first ‘dip your nib’ into the world of planners it can be a very overwhelming experience. When I first bought my planner I went to high street shops, as back then I hadn’t even heard of Etsy. Had I seen a TN back then I am not sure I would have even considered it as an option. The first time I heard mention of a TN was on Mrs Brimbles YouTube channel and it was a bit of a revelation, I can tell you. Something just clicked and I realised that strings are what are going to work for me in a way that rings always seemed to fail me.
By the end of December I was settled into my planner setup. I use an a5 Travelers Notebook as a home planner and a personal sized TN as my everyday carry which doubles up as my purse.
My setup for 2017 will be the same setup. I will continue to use both of these planners for 2017 as I love them both so much. The a5 Travelers Notebook was from Geekydori on Etsy and the personal TN was a gift from my wonderful friend Jeni.
It took a bit of juggling to work out my perfect setup inside both TN’s, but I am so happy now I am settled on the tabs inside and I know exactly where I am looking for everything.
My aims for 2017 are very simple, to stay put in these systems. I can’t forsee any reason to change now. I might swap the covers every now and again, but I can safely say that I will not ever go back to a ringed planner. I think I can safely say that now I have been in this setup for 3 months I have finally achieved planner peace and I can tell you it feels fantastic.
I would love to hear what conclusions you came to and what setups you have for 2017.
