The Vintage Planner

UKPA Big Meet 2016

On Saturday 1st October the event of the year happened. After months of waiting and anticipation it was the most exciting day for 110 plannergirls the length and breadth of the UK (and a few from Europe too).

I was one of the lucky ones, in possession of a golden ticket. Imagine me singing akin to Charlie Bucket from the chocolate factory.

So I booked my ticket and was on the way to Birmingham with some other local planner girls, Hayley and Rachel. We arrived at New Street station with time to spare, so we headed to a few shops in the train station that we don’t have in Manchester. I have never been into Hema before, but I was like a kid in a sweet shop. I picked up some really fab gold scissors, paperclips and washi tape.

We then headed over to the venue ready for the big event. When we got there and sat down I was amazed at what an awesome job the admin team and helpers had done. Everywhere looked gorgeous. Each table had balloons, decorations and even a massive bowl of sweets and chocolates on each table. We all had personalised name badges, paperclips and the biggest goody bags I have ever seen in my life on our chairs as well as a programme of the day.

After an intro from the Admins, Stephanie and Bev, we then had a talk from Kristina Karlsson, the founder of Kikki K, along with a mini happiness workshop. After that we had time for cake, tea and shopping. There were several stalls selling pretty much everything that any stationery addict could want. After we were all shopped out, we had an awards ceremony and prize winning ceremony. I even won a set of Oli Clips in the raffle.

Then, all too soon it was time to go home. I sat on the train feeling a mix of emotions, elated, enthused, but also sad it was over. It took several days after to process the whole day. These days always feel very life affirming to me, to be surrounded by people who have the same passions and interests is always very positive, but the emotional support is also what keeps this group of women going too.

So for now I will have to wait patiently for the tickets to go on sale for next year. Come hell or high water I will get tickets! See you next year Big Meet team.

I did a YouTube Video haul of the goody bag over on my channel so you can see what we got here:

Thank you to everyone who was involved, it was amazing.

Love Louise x
